Every year (with much appreciated SPA financial support) I look forward to inviting authors to our school, to inspire and entertain our own readers and writers. Last week we welcomed our first author of the year, Brendan McLeod, to SBS – and he did just that! A poet (both published and spoken word), an author AND a musician, he wowed us with his creativity and passion – and educated us, specifically, on how best to use special forms of language to create powerful meaning. Perhaps most importantly, he made us laugh, listen carefully, and feel a little awe. Grade two to six students had a great time with him! Thank you, SPA, for funding this event.
In March, I’ve queued up another author, to present to our younger grades. We have much to look forward to!
