It’s BLUE SPRUCE CONTEST time in the library, for our youngest classes!
JK, SK, GR 1 and GR 2 have begun reading and contemplating this year’s chosen ten “best” Canadian picture books. Once all are read, discussed and compared, our SBS readers will be casting their individual ballots alongside tens of thousands of other Ontario school children.
Quite aside from the introduction to ten excellent, recently published Canadian picture books (as chosen by a panel of writers and educators), the contest is an early – and sometimes tricky! – exercise in the individual voting process. We’re reading a lot, learning a lot and having fun in the process.
