On Wednesday, the students in Grades One through Six were so excited to welcome Njacko Backo for his first visit to SBS! The students saw an amazing collection of instruments from homemade maracas to the “African iPhone 1600”. Together we played music, heard folk tales and stories from Cameroun, sang and even learned a few dance steps. Njacko spoke of his life growing up in Cameroun, answered all kinds of wonderful questions and shared the importance of being bilingual, not only for connecting with new friends in Canada and Europe, but those in Africa as well. Merci to the SPA for helping bring Njacko to Sunnybrook this year.
