Guernica, an anti-war protest piece and the most powerful political statement by Pablo Picasso, is recognized as a revolutionary work of art for its innovative approach to cubism and to history painting. Grade 6 students, while working on their Government Unit, applied their new knowledge of Guernica to produce their own Guernica with an artist statement pertaining to a relevant topic.
